Bench Lane 05 · GIS & Deed Plotting

GIS Abstract & Leasehold Mapping Work.

Every complex runsheet, acquisition data room, and horizontal drilling unit needs a land mapper who can plot metes-and-bounds calls in varas or chains, reconcile Texas General Land Office (GLO) abstract boundaries, and turn ownership worksheets into clean GIS shapefiles and exhibit plats.

Nothing is promised. Signing puts your counties and experience on our bench list so we can reach out when an operator or broker sends a matching request.

Re What we record when you sign for GIS and mapping work

  1. Metes-and-bounds and vara plotting (COGO). In Texas, Louisiana, and Appalachia, tracts are described by metes and bounds, Spanish grants, or early headrights rather than rectangular quarter-sections. Note on your sheet whether you plot bearings, distances, varas, and creek meanders directly from deed text.

  2. State land grids and public layers. List the state spatial layers you work with regularly: Texas GLO original survey abstracts and RRC well/pipeline layers, BLM PLSS township-range-section grids in New Mexico and Wyoming, Oklahoma section-township-range grids, and Louisiana parish township/irregular section layers.

  3. Leasehold status and NRI ownership maps. Operators and acquisition teams ask for color-coded tract maps tied directly to the Mineral Ownership Report (MOR): leased vs. unleased tracts, primary-term expiration windows, depth-severed HBP benches, and competitor leasehold positions.

  4. Deliverable formats. Tell us which GIS packages and deliverable formats you produce (geodatabases, shapefiles, GeoJSON, KMZ, or print-ready PDF exhibit plats for pooling, unitization, and surface easement exhibits).

Tip for signing the sheet: In the counties box below, list the specific counties where you have worked records, not just a state abbreviation.
